Looking into KB 2143987, one can read that “For customers choosing not to upgrade their vSphere Enterprise or vSOM Enterprise licenses to Enterprise Plus VMware will continue supporting the products through the End of General Support (EOGS) which will be March 2020 – see the Product Lifecycle“.
The same vSphere 6 Enterprise keys for a customer will work with vSphere 6.5 Enterprise. If you have tried this, please let me know.
It should still give you Enterprise Edition features just as before.
Enterprise is Standard plus these features from vSphere 6:
- Virtual Serial Port Concentrator
- Storage APIs for storage integration
- Storage APIs for multipathing
- Distributed Resource Scheduler + DPM
- Big data extentions
- Reliable memory
The download binary bits are the same as what we have on download page: https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/info/slug/datacenter_cloud_infrastructure/vmware_vsphere/6_5
By the way, if you have customers that are sticking with their ENT licensing, they can still use the predictive DRS with vROps 6.4. The only requirement is they have to be running vSphere 6.5, but they don’t have to upgrade to ENT+.
Remember you still have until December 26 to upgrade to Enterprise Plus with the 50% off promo!
